The Royal Wardrobe, getting glamourous

The weather has turned for autumn and suddenly the glitz has arrived. It might be the season of coats and jackets but the Royal Wardrobe had upped the glam factor this week and given us some standout looks that would sparkle at any time of the year. From fifties inspiration to a princess brave enough to take on the hardest colour of this season, here are five fabulous moments from the week just gone. You can vote in the poll on the main page (also on the right hand side of this page) and come back later this week to find out who topped the ballots. Here's this week's Royal Wardrobe.

Princess Charlene of Monaco drew plenty of compliments for her fabulous evening frock worn for the Princess Grace Foundation awards (see it here, it is marvellous). But the 50s inspired outfit, worn earlier that day for a meeting of the foundation at Cartier in New York (mais, of course) was stunning and spectacular as well. Think Grace Kelly in the years before she became a princess and we know just where Charlene got her inspiration. A nice nod to the mother in law she never got to meet and a stunning outfit that just shows style and class will always last.

The colour of Queen Maxima's rather gorgeous dress and coat is so delicious that we can forget she's got a pile of bandages stuck to the top of her head. The dress is divine, the coat is spectacular and put the two together, you get a look that was made for a queen. Maxima can do royal dressing and she even managed to get the bandage hat in a perfect contrasting colour. Standout.

Three cheers and a bottle of beer for Crown Princess Mary who has given us one of the few royal forays into ochre yellow, the colour that all designers told us we must have this season and which is so hard to wear most of us have stayed well clear. OK, Mary kept it very low key with the lining of her statement sleeves (another tick on the on trend style shopping list) with matching bag. When you can key your accessories to a minor part of your outfit you have entered style sueprstardom. Just enjoy Mary glittering, she looks amazing.

Before Queen Letizia gave us her take on a royal tracksuit (it's true, there are photos to prove it right here), she showed us that less is more and simple chic will always win with this perfect autumnal ensemble. The trousers and jacket are muted to the point of low key but then thrown in that cracking jacket and the whole outfit hits the heights. The colours are the perfect mix, the silhouette is uber sleek and the whole look is elegance and then some. This consort is back on form (tracksuits aside).

Another royal style icon showing ultra chic credentials this week was Queen Rania who won big smiles for this elegant blouse/ skirt combo. Muted pale pink is right up there on the hot colours of the season while the draping and slightly fuller skirt are the looks everyone wants right now. Rania pulled them altogether by keeping the accessories and hair simple and produced a cracker of a combination that wins everytme.

Five great looks, plenty of glamour - but which is your favourite? Vote in the poll and check back this week to see whether your top look topped the ballot.
