Victoria, Estelle and Daniel of Sweden on the country's National Day, June 6th 2016
Sweden's Royal Family have been celebrating their country's National Day and while the younger members dominated proceedings, there was plenty more to enjoy during this traditional even tin the regal calendar. We got national dress, we got carriages, we got castles. It was a royal spectacular.
The day began with Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia throwing open the castle doors. Admittedly, quite a lot of people wanted a sneaky peak at Prince Alexander who was making his first public appearance. But while he snoozed both his mum and dad spoke then opened the doors on a day to remember.
King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia headed to Helsingborg to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Sofiero Castle. The castle was built by the then Crown Prince Oscar of Sweden and his wife, Sophia of Nassau, in the 1860s and is now known for its extensive gardens.
The royal couple had a chance to see them for themselves as well as meet many of their fellow citizens who had turned out to celebrate Sweden's National Day.
Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel headed to Nacka for a citizenship ceremony. They were on hand to witness dozens of people take on Swedish citizenship and celebrate with them.
Victoria also made a speech in which she called on all members of Sweden's society to cherish the freedoms it offers and uphold its values.
Later on, Princess Madeleine joined her family for the evening celebrations. The women of the Royal Family wore national costume and all of them took part in a carriage procession ending with a concert.
The last act of the day was a reception hosted by King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia and attended by Victoria, Daniel, Carl Philip, Sofia and Madeleine. National Day in Sweden really is a Royal Family affair.
