Kate and the kids

She's a duchess who does things her way and now Kate of Cambridge has proved just how strong her street credentials are.  She may only have been in Adelaide, Australia for a couple of hours but she managed to pack in a bit of skateboarding and DJ-ing while she was there.  How to modernise a monarchy in two easy steps.

Kate throws some shapes - well, she was just getting her balance but after a day of looking cool and getting down with the kids, it wouldn't have been a surprise

The day started off on a trend setting note when Kate stepped off the plane in Adelaide in a pale pink bespoke Alexander McQueen dress - not only was she fashion forward colour wise, she was also showing off one of the lowest necklines she's ever worn.  And while fashion critics went wild for the outfit, with many calling it her best look of the whole tour, the duchess was busy impressing everyone by trying out a spot of DJ-ing as she and William visited Northern Sound System in the suburb of Elizabeth which offers music and performance activities for young people in the area.

Like every couple who have been married a while, Kate and William don't agree on who has the best music tastes

The Duke of Cambridge then tried his hand at some graffiti art - totally legal of course - before the couple watched some skateboarding and got yet another present for Prince George - a skateboard that is at least double the size of the future king.

The couple packed in another walkabout before officially naming part of the city after their son when they unveiled a plaque for Prince George Plaza.

But the abiding memory of the day will be Kate and William DJ-ing.  They laughed at themselves and made plenty laugh along with them. Another success on a royal tour that has worked its magic on many levels, including the most modern.
