Spain's royals remember

King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia led Spain's royals today in an act of remembrance for the 191 people who were killed in the Atocha train bombings exactly ten years ago today.  The king and queen were joined by the Princess of Asturias and the Infanta Elena at a service at the Almudena Cathedral in Madrid which was attended by relatives of those killed.

The service was also attended by some of the 1,800 people who were injured in the attacks.  A simple wreath of red and yellow flowers was placed before the main altar of the cathedral during the ceremony which was led by the Archbishop of Madrid, Antonio Maria Rouco Valera, who spoke of how love triumphed over hate in Spain in the days after the attack as people came together in support of one another.  Today, there was more unity in the face of the sadness that comes with remembering such tragic events.
